ArtSea Dance

Dance, taken seriously.

ArtSea is a weekend-long convention built to help aspiring young dancers grow their talent and see a real path toward a professional dance career — a bridge connecting young Caribbean artists to the dance world beyond the islands.

Who's behind it

Built by dancers, for dancers.

ArtSea was co-founded by Courtney Celeste Spears, a member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, alongside her brother and the program's executive producer, Asa Cary. The goal from the start was to connect Bahamian and Caribbean dancers to opportunities across the wider dance world.

The program

Master class series

Guest teachers travel to Nassau for in-person classes, each specializing in a different style or genre.

More than technique

Alongside jazz, ballet, and hip-hop instruction, students get choreography training, career guidance, and body wellness practices.

Reaching further

Select sessions are livestreamed, so the classes reach a wider audience beyond who's in the room.

Changing the conversation

Dance is often treated as a hobby rather than a viable career in the Bahamas — ArtSea works to shift that, one class at a time.
